SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are a key component in the success of Open Arms operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Volunteering time is a wonderful way for individuals or groups to contribute to our agency and the community.  For more information on how you can get involved, contact Open Arms at 419-420-9261.

  • Minimum age is 18 years old for most positions
  • Fill out an application

Board of Director Volunteer

Open Arms is always looking for volunteer leaders to represent the community on our Board of Directors. Board terms are three (3) years in length.  If you are interested in a position on the Open Arms board, contact us for specific details on time commitments and the nomination process.

Harmony House Volunteer

Harmony House provides supervised visits or exchanges due to issues related to divorce, child abuse, domestic violence or other safety concerns. Volunteers are trained to supervise visits and exchanges. Volunteers are needed to sit in on visits Wednesdays & Fridays 3:30 p.m.-8:30   p.m. and Sundays 12:00-8:00 p.m.

Children’s Program Volunteer (Age requirement: 14 years old)

Once a week, for 2 hours, volunteers are needed to assist the Child Advocate with the Children's Support Group, crafts, snack time, and clean up. We also need volunteers to provide child care to the younger children who are not age appropriate for group, usually for children 0-3 years of age.

Special Events Volunteers

Open Arms relies heavily on volunteers to provide successful fundraising and community awareness events, like our annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes,  Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Month, and Child Abuse Prevention Month. Jobs range from setting up displays to posting fliers and managing public relations. Volunteering is usually a one time, short term commitment for the length of the project. This “behind the scenes” committee work can offer volunteers a great networking opportunity, a chance to establish new friendships, all while making a positive impact on our community. Volunteers would work in conjunction with the Communications Coordinator at Open Arms and would gather informative facts and situational knowledge regarding domestic violence and sexual assault in our community.
